Giving Back

Murphy-Pitard Jewelers is deeply rooted in community.  We love Union County "truly, madly, deeply" and are committed to being intentional about community-building.  We have made a promise to our customers that purchases made at Murphy-Pitard will be re-invested locally in fun ways with the goal of bringing about positive change for our residents.  We believe in paying it forward.  We believe that success comes with a responsibility to community.  We believe that you can't out-give a loving God.  We look forward to opportunities to test this theory as we grow and build together.  So, here's to better tomorrow, South Arkansas!

South Arkansas Arts Center

We believe that the arts have a profound impact on the health of a community.  The arts bring joy and comfort, hope and healing, intellect and interest, good vibes and self-esteem, just to name a few - all of which are attributes of healthy people who collectively unite for a healthy community.  Murphy-Pitard supports the Arts Center by sponsoring one theatre production each season.  The sponsorship includes both direct financial support and the donation of a custom designed jewelry item to be auctioned off at the event, with all proceeds benefiting the SAAC.
The South Arkansas Arts Center, or SAAC, is a complete visual and performing arts center that includes three gallery spaces, a ballet studio, a 207 seat theatre, a scene and costume shop, classrooms, a photography studio, and offices all of which provide AIE residencies, monthly gallery exhibits, community theatre productions, classes in visual arts, ballet, photography, drama, and music for people of all ages and people with special needs. “We have a talented community,” said SAAC’s Executive Director “and our expectations, and that of the community, are very high.”

El Dorado Service League

Children are our tomorrow.  Someone once said that children are one-third of our population and all of our future.  Unfortunatley, there are children in our community who are struggling. Their lives are not as the should be.  El Dorado Service League is attempting to meet the needs of those children, and we want to help!

El Dorado Service League (ESL) is a non-profit women's organization whose mission is to serve the children of Union County.  By working hand-in-hand with school counselors, social workers, and other organizations, ESL provides assistance for medical, educational and other charitable needs.

In partnership with ESL, Murphy-Pitard Jewelers hosts an annual gala.  The past several years have been Masquerade-themed.  Regardless of the theme, Murphy-Pitard donates a diamond valued at a minimum of $3,000 to be awarded in a toast.  Patrons of party purchase champagne glasses.  Each glass houses a cherry.  One cherry houses a gem.  At a designated hour, the champagne glasses are distributed, a toast is made "To the Children of Union County", and everyone checks their cherry for the stone.  All money collected from the sale of the champagne glasses is re-invested in our children.   Let's all raise our glasses to the future leaders of our community!

Medical Center of South Arkansas and the #TeamCorrie Cancer Foundation

The goal of the Girlfriends Giggle is to provide the women of this community with the ultimate girls night out all while raising money for two great causes:  The MCSA Auxiliary & #TeamCorrie Cancer Foundation.  Girlfriends Giggle is definitely not your daughter's sleep over. It’s the ultimate girls night out! This pajama party is for grown-up girls in our community who just wanna have fun. The pajama party celebrates the highest level of indulgences such as manicures, pedicures, massages, and hair styling. The impeccable elegance of this private venue offers a heavy emphasis on pampering, wellness, relaxation and style. It's a little of everything women love - networking, boutique shopping, dance, and libation, all in support of a wonderful cause.

So, how does Murphy-Pitard Jewelers contribute?  With a giant cake smash, of course!  In partnership with the chefs at the El Doardo Golf and Country Club, we bake a 5 foot by 5 foot double layer ginormous cake!  Inside the cake is baked a single pearl.  Tickets are sold to participate in the smash, with all proceeds going directly to the causes listed above.  All tickets are placed into a hopper, and ten names are drawn.  The ten lucky participants are decked out in gloves, aprons, shower caps, and shoe covers before taking their position around the cake.  After being given the rules of the smash, chaos ensues!  One lucky winner finds the pearl and goes home with a strand of Akoya pearls and a custom-designed pearl and diamond ring valued at $2500 or more!

The Symetra Tour

The Symetra Tour, previously known as the LPGA Futures Tour, is the official developmental golf tour of the LPGA. Tour membership is open to professional women golfers and to qualified amateurs, all of whom descend upon our community for one very exciting week each year to play at our very own renowned golf course, Mystic Creek Golf Club.  Mystic Creek is an asset that we should all be extremely proud of.  As a matter of fact, Mystic Creek Golf Club was recently designated by Golfweek magazine as the #1 Golf Course in Arkansas That You Can Play.  This is tremendous - the kind of distinction that will certainly help to anchor El Dorado on the radar of distinct destinations in Arkansas and beyond.

Murphy-Pitard Jewelers wants to be a heavy player in rolling out the red carpet for these ladies and their families/friends.  Certainly, the lady golfers love staying with local host families and receiving local fare.  But, the crowning moment happens just before being awarded the winner's trophy, when Murphy-Pitard Jewelers steps onto the 18th green to award the winner a little extra bling!  In addition to a healthy check and trophy that are compliments of Murphy USA, the Murphy Shootout winner also receives a four carat diamond tennis bracelet as a daily reminder of our community and how much we love having them as our guests!

Main Street El Dorado

Historic Downtown... Beautiful downtown... Nationally recognized winner of the 2009 Great American Main Street Award...  We LOVE our downtown!

Anchoring the center of Union Square, the Union County Courthouse was built in 1927 and listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 1983.  The surrounding businesses are owned and operated by dear friends - hard working families just like us who want to provide opportunities for shopping and dining to our residents and guests.  Countless donations, investments, and volunteer hours have developed our downtown into a vibrant destination that brings great pride to Union County.  When Main Street El Dorado approached us with a transportation need, we answered with the donation of this super cute golf cart! Pause for a selfie with the cart and tag #murphypitard.  We want to see you out enjoying yourselves. Then, swing on around to the north corner of the Square and stop in to say, "Hello!" to us. We will be waiting for you.
